It’s Ecological – Veneers are sliced to be as thin as possible (1/40″), this allows for the maximum use of each log. Also, during production there is very little waste when compared to the traditional milling of hardwoods.
It’s Beautiful – Veneer logs are selected for their beauty and grade. When slicing veneers any wood defects within the log must be patched by experienced wood-workers; so only the top grade materials are selected. As you may have expected, top grade logs make for top grade products. Also, the way veneers are processed allows for easy bookmatching and other unique design properties.
It’s Versatile – Veneer is light weight and quite durable once applied to a solid surface; it can also be applied to a variety of materials. It’s unique flexibility allows for veneer to fit into tighter spots than traditionally milled hardwoods and without adding excess weight or bulk.
It’s Cost Effective – Veneers are very thin and milling allows for less waste and more efficiency with each log. Because of this, veneer is a fraction of the cost of solid hardwoods. The lighter weight of veneer also translates to less expensive shipping rates.
It’s Stable – Wood has a tendency to expand and contract with climate changes, this can lead to problems for certain applications. Since veneers are thinner (1/40″) and less porous they tend not to fluctuate as severely and hold their true shape.
